▣ 사고원인

– 원칙무시

  • 최초 ‘삼풍랜드’라는 종합상가(지하4층/지상4층)로 설계되어 준공 무렵, 백화점(5층 확장공사)으로 무리하게 확장 건축으로 변경되었고, 구조전문가의 검토가 생략, 준공시 준공검사도 무시한 채 임시사용승인만으로 개점.
  • 지하에 설치하고자 한 냉각탑(4개)은 지하공간 확보 이유로 옥상으로 변경 설치

 

– 부실시공

  • 넓은 매장공간을 확보하기 위해 벽을 제거하고, 에스컬레이터 설치를 위해 각 층에 구멍을 뚫은 이유로 기둥에 무게가 집중
  • 건물4층과 5층의 20개 기둥 중 8개는 지름이 800mm, 내부 고장력 철근 16개를 설치해야 하나 지름은 600mm, 철근은 8개로 시공
